Dr. Walker Blanton, JU professor of history, had a chance to discuss the Civil War Jan. 23 at the monthly meeting of the Civil War Round Table of Coastal Georgia, where he was honored with a certificate of appreciation.
Blanton, who has taught more than four decades and countless students at JU, said he focused on some of the more controversial aspects of the Battle of Gettysburg during his speech to about 50 attendees.
“I’ve been up several times and was invited back to speak,” he said. “It’s a fun group.”
Walker, a Distinguished Dolphin, is a sought-after national author and lecturer on the subject of the Old South and the Confederacy. He was honored as JU’s Professor of the Year for 1988-89.
You are my favorite Confederate!
Well done!
