Clay County hospital competition to benefit consumer, JU’s Don Capener says in Florida Times-Union

The intense competition created by Clay County’s burgeoning health care industry likely will benefit consumers, Dr. Don Capener, the Jacksonville University Davis College of Business dean, said in an April 29 Florida Times-Union article.

Baptist Clay Medical Center opened May 1, and Wolfson Children’s Hospital Special Center and St. Vincent’s Medical Center Clay County are opening soon in Clay County, the T-U reported.

“Overall, the addition of choice should benefit the consumer. … Residents can now more easily obtain second opinions and estimates from multiple providers,” Capener said in the article.

Here is the Times-Union article.
