Easton Alton Sorrow waited a few days after his due date and into the wee hours of May 28 to arrive, but baby, mom and dad are doing just fine. Jacksonville University Communications Coordinator Kristi Mace Sorrow delivered 9-pound, 5-ounce Easton at 1:18 a.m. at Baptist South Hospital.
“Never imagined he was going to be that big!” Sorrow said by e-mail. “He is 21 3/4 inches long. He is soo cute but looks nothing like me and not even really Dan yet, either.”
First photo features Easton in a Gators beanie, but hopefully Dolphin gear will start popping up as well. Never fear, more photos are on the way, Sorrow said.
The most important news: JU Web Manager Erick Stover was the inter-office baby pool champ, winning “more than a dollar but less then a million” by correctly picking May 28 as the birth date, while also guessing the baby would be a male weighing in at 9 pounds, 8 ounces (pretty close). He had Easton entering this world pretty diminutive, though, at only 18.1 inches long.
Stover’s reason for being so close on so many of the categories?
“I play to win,” he said. “Or witchcraft, whichever you prefer.”
