A full slate of 15 home games, including a Nov. 25 match-up against the University of Florida at Veterans Memorial Arena, highlights the 2013-14 schedule for Jacksonville University men’s basketball.
Season tickets are on sale now by calling (904) 256-7400 or visiting www.JUDolphins.com.
In addition to the showdown against the Gators, the Dolphins will open the season at Florida State (Nov. 8) and also make interstate road trips to FAU (Dec. 7) and UCF (Dec. 17). The rest of the non-league road games consist of a swing through North Carolina to face Gardner Webb (Nov. 16) and Wake Forest (Nov. 18).
For the Dolphins non-league home schedule, Florida A&M (Nov. 23) makes a visit to the First Coast, as will Samford (Dec. 20) and South Carolina State (Dec. 23). Jacksonville also hosts non-league contests against Florida College (Nov. 12) and Trinity Baptist (Dec. 3).
The ever-competitive Atlantic Sun Conference portion tips-off Dec. 30 against Mercer as part of a nine-game home slate for league play. Other noteworthy home dates include a visit from Sweet 16 participant Florida Gulf Coast (Jan. 11) and the annual SunTrust River City Rumble showdown with North Florida (Feb. 14). The Dolphins swept the Ospreys last season and have a 15-4 all-time advantage in the series.
The importance of the A-Sun regular season holds even more weight this year as the conference has revamped its tournament format for the 2014 edition of the General Shale A-Sun Basketball Championships.
After six years of playing the entire tournament at one pre-determined site, the conference is now taking its sessions across the membership. Regular season play will determine the higher seed hosts for each round of tournament, starting with the top four seed hosting quarterfinal games on March 4.
