JU’s Dr. Donnie Horner weighs in on school dropout prevention on WJCT radio

Dr. Donnie Horner, JU's chief government and community affairs officer

Dr. Donnie Horner, JU’s chief government and community affairs officer who recently ended a two-year stint as Jacksonville’s education commissioner, discusses reversing the national dropout crisis in a segment recently produced by 89.9 WJCT-FM public radio.

Horner was interviewed for “American Graduate,” a WJCT project supported by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

“The literature that I’ve seen and the experts I’ve worked with and we’ve worked with here in the city says the dropout prevention needs to start really early …” Horner, also a JU management professor, says in the WJCT segment.

From parents to teachers to community leaders, “we all have a role to play,” Horner says.
