UPDATE MONDAY, OCT. 14, FROM JU REGISTRAR CAROLYN BARRETT:

Eighty-three December 2013 graduates or walkers attended the Graduation Fair Thursday, Oct. 10, almost twice as many as the year before.

This was the first true JU Graduation Fair, in which students did more than order their Cap and Gown and Graduation Packages from the JU Bookstore and Herff Jones.

The Graduation Candidates:

  • Checked in with the Registrar’s Office to be sure they were on the Commencement List and that their name was correct for the diploma.  We did have a number of students add or delete their middle names. The Registrar’s staff also quickly reviewed the students’ Degree Audit and identified a few students who needed to complete Substitution Forms or Community Service.
  • Career Development had laptops for students to complete the Graduation Success Survey.
  • Financial Aid counseled students about the Federal Exit Survey.
  • Representatives of the Alumni Association were present to make first contact with the graduates
  • Graduate and ADP Admissions and MBA Admissions staff were present to give these graduation candidates information about JU’s Graduate Programs.
  • Information Technology lent the Graduation Fair four laptops.
  • Last, but not least, the JU Bookstore and Herff Jones were present to help students order their cap and gown and other graduation-related items. The Bookstore had a 40 percent increase in sales over 2012.
