San Francisco, CA (May 23, 2013) – NerdWallet, a consumer advocacy and financial literacy website, has compiled a list of the top metro areas for veterans, and laud’s Jacksonville University for its focus on military education benefits.
NerdWallet ranked the Jacksonville metro area as the best medium-sized metro after assessing the area’s economic climate, veteran employment opportunities and peer support network.
With the third-largest naval presence in the country, Jacksonville has a real military culture. The city’s population is comprised of 14% veterans, and 17% of all businesses in Jacksonville are veteran-owned.
Jacksonville University has been recognized for its dedication to active military, veteran and transfer of entitlement students, the website said. The university works closely with students to meet their education and career goals and participates in all Chapters of VA education benefits. Jacksonville University offers a 100% match of the Yellow Ribbon Program, a program in which over 10% of the student population takes advantage of. In addition, the university offers other resources for students such as the Student Veterans of America (SVA) club.
