The number of JU donors increased by 506 from 2010-11 to 2011-12, a jump of more than 24 percent, while overall dollars increased by 3.5 percent.
“In a tough economic year, the quantum leap in number of donors is extremely important,” said JU Vice President for Advancement Michael Howland. “Our alumni donors grew by nearly 200, and that is fabulous.”
Howland pointed to the 53 Campaign for scholarship support in honor of Artis Gilmore’s Hall of Fame induction and the Adopt A Classroom technology upgrade campaign as catalysts in the increase.
A total of 32 classrooms of the 56 classrooms slated for upgrades have been “adopted” so far by a plethora of individuals, corporations and organizations such as the Phi Delta Theta fraternity alumni.
Originally, only 46 classrooms were identified for upgrade needs, but when the early success of the campaign was realized, 10 more classrooms were identified for adoption.
