JU artistic lighting leads to hot sales at Cummer Ball

Let’s just say JU students and faculty lit up the recent Cummer Ball in Riverside.

Artistic lighting made by members of the University’s Glass and Ceramics departments sold briskly March 16 as it was put on display at the glitzy event that raises money for the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens, said Brian Frus, JU assistant professor of glass.

“At the ball, at least 10 lights sold before I left, and they expect a few more sales during the rest of March,” he said. ” The event was beautiful, the food was delicious and the networking was fantastic.  I spoke with many people about JU Arts and hope it will benefit via additional sales of lights as well as future commissions or partnerships with our program.”

The glowing chandeliers and pendant lights made by 36 JU students, faculty and recent alumni were shown for sale at the event, with part of the proceeds benefiting the museum.
