Jacksonville University choirs and Jacksonville Sister Cities present “Songs and Sweets Soirée” Nov. 3

What: “Songs and Sweets Soirée” evening of vocal music and desserts to benefit Student Exchange Programs for the Duval County Public Schools and the 2013 Jacksonville University Choral Tour to France, the choirs’ first international concert tour in more than two decades.

When: 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3.

Where: Terry Concert Hall, Jacksonville University, 2800 University Blvd. N.

Details: In its first international concert tour in more than 20 years, 24 members of the JU Choirs will embark on a concert tour of France in May 2013. These talented student musicians will represent Jacksonville University and our city as they present concerts in Paris, Chartres and Nantes.

The highlight of the tour will be a three-day visit to Nantes, where the JU students will meet and perform for Nantes dignitaries as cultural ambassadors of the City of Jacksonville, which has been partnered with Nantes in a vibrant sister-city relationship since 1984.

The cost of touring will be borne by our students through their self-organized fundraising efforts.

Join us for a delightful evening of vocal music featuring the JU Choirs and Assistant Professor of Voice, soprano Kimberly Beasley, followed by a dessert reception.  All proceeds will support student exchange programs for the Duval County Public Schools and the Jacksonville University Choral Tour to France.

Suggested donation at the Door for Nov. 3 event: Adults $20 – Students $10.
