Jacksonville University hosts nine teams at the 5th annual Fall Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) Clay Target Regional Championships today through Sunday, Oct. 23-25, at the Jacksonville Skeet and Trap Club at 12125 New Berlin road. The JU Varsity Shooting Team is now a national champion across all divisions and is in great position for an outstanding showing.
With 118 athletes participating, the event has become one of the largest collegiate regional clay target sports shoots in the country. The teams compete in American skeet, American trap, International wobble trap and sporting clays.

Events start at 1 p.m. Friday and continue all day Saturday and Sunday, beginning at 9 a.m. each day. Participants include the University of Kentucky, Jacksonville University, Virginia Tech, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona State University, Emmanuel College, Florida State University, University of North Florida and Stetson University.
SCTP (www.sssfonline.org) provided $20,000 in endowment funding for the event, to be deposited into the teams’ endowment accounts at MidwayUSA Foundation Inc. (www.midwayusafoundation.org). The event takes place each fall and spring in Jacksonville and is hosted by JU, the founder of the contest.
