The Jacksonville University Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Marguerite Richardson, Associate Professor of Strings in the College of Fine Arts, will present a free holiday concert to the community at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, in Terry Concert Hall.
The program is a mix of classical and popular favorites, and will include such holiday standards as Leroy Anderson’s Sleigh Ride and his Christmas Festival sing-a-long. Also featured will be student violinists Joseph Schmidt Jr. and Edward Latimer in Bach’s monumental Concerto for Two Violins in D minor.
Other works include Percy Faith’s Brazilian Sleigh Bells, Lauridsen’s serene O Magnum Mysterium, and a selection from Humperdinck’s opera, Hansel and Gretel. Always a crowd favorite, this concert is fun for everyone! Come early as seating is limited.
The Orchestra will also be featured on an upcoming episode of the CW’s “I Know Jax.” Visit www.IKnowJax.com for updates.
