Services scheduled for JU alum Richard Prosser; planned Nocatee, Mayo Clinic, Marsh Landing

JU alum Richard Prosser, a prominent Northeast Florida project planner, has died at age 72.

Mr. Prosser graduated in 1973 from Jacksonville University with a bachelor’s degree in geography. According to a Friday, Nov. 1, article in The Florida Times-Union, he was the principal planner for Marsh Landing, Mayo Clinic, Julington Creek and Windsor Parke. Mr. Prosser founded Prosser Hallock Planners and Engineers, and was also instrumental in planning the massive Nocatee development.

He died Oct. 21 of the effects of Alzheimer’s. A memorial service is at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at Palms Presbyterian Church, 3410 Third St. S., Jacksonville Beach.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Prosser is survived by his son Bryan, of Bradenton; stepsons Rob Placek, of Roswell, Ga., and Mike Placek, of Cumming, Ga.; eight grandchildren; brother Chan Prosser, of Memphis; and sister Lorena Morrison, of Miami.
