JU’s White addresses huge, costly San Marco ‘pothole’ in Action News Jax story

JU Marine Science Research Institute Executive Director Quinton White

Jacksonville University’s Dr. Quinton White was interviewed Friday, June 14 for an Action News Jax (WTEV CBS-47 and WAWS FOX-30) story on a what he termed “a very significant expensive pothole” in San Marco.

The cave-in at Atlantic Boulevard and Kings Road was caused when a Florida of Transportation contractor drilled a hole in a storm drain, Action News Jax reported.

“It’s caused by what appears to be a stormwater washout that’s weakened the subsurface under the road and that’s caused the road to collapse …” White, executive director of JU’s Marine Science Research Institute, said in the TV report. “This is not a trivial project, this is a very significant expensive pothole, if you will.”
