Sarah Sowers named JU associate registrar

JU Associate Registrar Sarah Sowers

Sarah Sowers, a 12-year Jacksonville University employee, has been named the University’s associate registrar.

“Your positive e-mails and comments regarding Sarah’s good work confirmed to me that Sarah was the right candidate …” Registrar Carolyn Barrett said in an e-mail to the JU faculty, staff and administration announcing Sowers’ appointment.

Sowers has worked at JU for 12 years, the last 11½ as assistant registrar for transfer credits. She says her JU career, particularly “the structured nature of what we do in the Registrar’s Office,” is a good fit for her because of her accounting background and because of her “accommodating and understanding” supervisor.

“I couldn’t begin to express how JU has impacted my life because I don’t know what my life would look like if I didn’t work at JU,” she said. “It is just about all I’ve ever known. It has definitely helped to shape my adult life and who I am.”

Sowers has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and business administration from Flagler College in St. Augustine. She and her husband, Kellum, have two daughters, 7-year-old K.C. and 3-year-old Lauren.”
