Nursing students awarded first STAR scholarships funded by Kirbo Charitable Foundation

Five School of Nursing students have been selected as the first recipients of academic scholarships funded by a $25,000 gift to the University from The Thomas M. & Irene B. Kirbo Charitable Foundation.

Those chosen for the STAR Fellowship Scholarships met requirements including faculty recommendation, maintaining a GPA of 3.5 or above, being team players who work to help other students be successful, and demonstrating proficiency in nursing skills.

Awarded scholarships were Hope Barnes, Micah Coleman, Erika Cunningham, Katharina Jakobsson and Allison Rupp.

The College of Health SciencesSimulation Training and Applied Research (STAR) Center, which opened last year, is one of only four statewide hubs to be named a Regional Training Center.
