JU Public Policy Institute’s Rick Mullaney weighs in on unions, FOP leaders’ arrests in First Coast News story

It is unclear how much the arrests of Jacksonville’s Fraternal Order of Police union’s top two leaders in a federal gambling probe will impact the organization, Jacksonville University Public Policy Institute Founding Director Rick Mullaney said in a March 14 First Coast News (WTLV NBC-12 and WJXX ABC-25) report.

“Too early to tell, not going to help,” he said.

FOP President Nelson Cuba and First Vice President Robbie Freitas, both of whom are veteran Jacksonville police officers, are among dozens of people charged March 12 in a gambling and money laundering case against Allied Veterans of the World, which operated internet cafes in Florida. Fallout from the case resulted in the resignation March 12 of Florida Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll, who co-owned a public relations firm that represented Allied Veterans and worked for the group while Carroll served in the Florida House of Representatives
