JU faculty, staff contestants needed for chopstick challenge, wing-eating contest Friday at Riverview Cafe

Sodexo is soliciting Jacksonville University faculty and staff members to step up and take the chopstick challenge. Or, for those not afraid to get messy, how does a chicken wing-eating contest sound?

It’s all part of the festive lunchtime Asian Street Market this Friday, Jan. 18 at Riverview Cafe. Delicacies from China, Japan, Korea, Thailand and Vietnam will be served from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

In the noon chopstick challenge, competitors will race the clock to pick up different objects with chopsticks. In the wing-eating contest at 12:15, contestants will have five minutes to eat as much Szechuan chicken as possible. JU students and faculty and staff members will participate in both competitions.

Dana Carlson, Sodexo’s marketing coordinator at JU, says the back-to-school revelry will have a lot more spice if faculty and staff members participate. To boot, winners will receive a shirt from the JU Bookstore — along with bragging rights, of course.

Faculty and staff members who are willing to answer the call and participate in the chopstick challenge or wing-eating contest should e-mail Carlson at dana.carlson2@gmail.com.
