Dee Brown can still dunk.
The Jacksonville University Athletics Department recently caught up with the 1990 alum, first-round Boston Celtics’ draft choice and — at 6 feet tall — the unlikely 1991 National Basketball Association Slam Dunk champion. We learn in a three-part Q&A published on the Athletic Department’s website that at 44, Brown is still dunking (in a new Reebok video) and coaching (as the Sacramento King’s assistant coach for player development).
After starring at the Bolles School in Jacksonville and then as a JU Dolphin, Brown spent 12 years in the NBA, mostly with the Celtics. He is a member of the JU Athletics Hall of Fame and is a Distinguished Dolphin.
