Mark Lamping, president of the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Jason Altmire, Florida Blue’s senior vice president for public policy, government and community affairs, have joined the Jacksonville University Public Policy Institute (JU PPI) Board of Advisors.
The newest JU PPI Board of Advisors members bring unique talents and extensive experience to the board, said Rick Mullaney, the institute’s founding director.
“Both are extraordinary leaders and are great additions to the board,” Mullaney said.

BIOGRAPHIES
Lamping is a veteran of more than 20 years of professional sports executive leadership, serving two years as president of the Jaguars, 14 years as president of Major League Baseball’s St. Louis Cardinals, and four years as CEO of New Meadowlands Stadium Company. Lamping was president of the Cardinals when the team won its 10th World Series title in 2006; he also worked with Anheuser-Busch for 13 years. Lamping serves on the boards of directors of the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce, Jacksonville Civic Council, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Jacksonville Inc., and the American Heart Association. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Rockhurst University and a master’s degree in business administration from Saint Louis University.
Jason Altmire
A national leader in health care policy and a key spokesperson for Florida Blue’s health care policy efforts and corporate social responsibility programs, Altmire served three terms in the U.S. House of Representatives, moving from Pennsylvania to Ponte Vedra Beach in 2013. Before being elected to Congress in 2007, he led the Department of Government Relations and Community Health at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Earlier in his career, he helped lead the legislative effort for the Federation of American Hospitals in Washington, D.C. He has also served as an adjunct professor at George Washington University, focusing on politics and policy. Altmire has a master’s degree in health services administration from George Washington University and a Bachelor of Science degree in political science from Florida State University.
