Who: De Profundis, featuring JU adjunct instructor Joe Yorio on saxophones, JU alum Bob Moore on piano and Tony Steve, JU Assistant Professor of Contemporary & World Music, on percussion.
When: 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 20.
Where: Taliaferro Hall at St. John’s Cathedral, 256 E. Church St.
Details: Solstice starts with the music of tradition – chant, hymn, spiritual – and takes it to a new place. The tried-and-true encounter the new and unexpected. Familiar tunes are graced with surprising rhythms and harmonies. The ear and the heart are satisfied. Solstice is a uniquely musical spiritual experience.
Those attending are encouraged to bring a donation of food items appropriate for the support of St. Mary’s food pantry downtown.
