Congratulations to JU December Employee of the Month Jody Kamens

Congratulations to Jody Kamens, JU’s December Employee of the Month.

Kamens, JU Tutoring and Learning Center Coordinator, recently went  beyond expectations of any employee in meeting the needs of a JU student who was ill. She made sure the student had a sponsor during her hospital stay, and she also paid for the flight home to Minnesota for her.

“Ms. Kamens went beyond her role as the TLC Coordinator and JU 101 instructor, making sure a student in great medical and financial need was attended to and cared for by a JU representative,” said nominator Char Wedge, JU Director of Academic Engagement.

Kamens is also “exceptionally attuned” to JU student learning needs, Wedge noted.

“She offers students not only excellent service in the Tutoring and Learning Center, she works with faculty and administration and staff to enhance services throughout academic departments and the University,” Wedge wrote in her nomination. Kamens also consistently serves students through the tutoring program, helping assure increased retention through her efforts.

JU employees of the month receive a $50 cash award, an extra day off, an award certificate signed by the JU president, and reserved parking for a month.
