The annual leaving ceremony for 4-year-olds at Wilma’s Little People School is always bound to be special, but this year’s was all the more significant with the Jacksonville University child education institution celebrating its 40th anniversary.
As school founder Dr. Kay Johnson looked on Friday, May 17, JU President Tim Cost, decked out in full academic robes and sitting outside his office in the Howard Administration Building, handed each child his or her certificate and read aloud special comments about them. (SEE PHOTO GALLERY BELOW.)
The childen also sang songs and beamed as Cost and others praised their artwork that will hang in the Howard third-floor lobby for several weeks.
“I have to say this is the most well-behaved – and best-looking – group of 4-year-olds I think I’ve ever had the pleasure of being president with,” Cost said to laughter from the audience of parents, family, friends and JU staff.
Johnson applauded the University for its efforts at helping making sure the school has been successful over so many years. The school gives students in Jacksonville University’s early childhood courses an opportunity to work with young children.
