“Reflections on the 200th Anniversary of Florida’s First Constitution: Spain’s Constitution of Cadiz”

On Friday, October 19, Florida Coastal School of Law, the City of St. Augustine, and Florida International College of Law will co-host a symposium honoring the 200th Anniversary of Spain’s Constitution of Cadiz. Panel discussions on Coastal Law’s campus will address various aspects of the constitution and its anniversary, including impacts on religious freedom, Florida property rights, and other controversies. Eduardo Garrigues, Spain’s Cónsul General in Puerto Rico, is scheduled to make the keynote address. Below you will find a copy of the complete agenda.
The event will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. is free and open to the public with RSVP. Lunch will be served and a reception on the lake, featuring Spanish tapas and wine, will immediately follow the closing remarks at 5 p.m.

· “Freedom of Religion under the Constitution of Cadiz”

· “Understanding Property Titles Post Acquisition”

The event also serves as a complement to other events taking place the following day in St. Augustine, at the only remaining original Spanish constitutional monument in the world, to commemorate the Constitution’s bicentennial and as a precursor to the upcoming 450th anniversary celebrations of the City of St. Augustine in 2015.
