Summer reading to believe in: JU Common Reading book selection is “This I Believe …”

Dear JU Community,
Our Common Reading book selection for Summer 2013 is “This I Believe: The Personal Philosophies of Remarkable Men and Women,” with a foreword by Studs Terkel.  As some of you know, the book is based on the NPR series of the same name hosted in the 1950s by Edward R. Murrow. Mr. Casey Murrow, his son, will be on our JU campus on September 3 & 4 to talk about the book, his father, and his beliefs.
Our CR Committee is very excited about this selection, as are the students who already have read it! With a major part of the student’s educational journey including an examination of one’s own life (thank you, Socrates!), this book is a perfect fit for all classes ~ and for all of us!
The book is available in the JU Bookstore. And if you read the book and are interested in having a “JU Book Discussion Event,” please let me know.
Happy reading!!!
