“Sign” of the times: “The Romesburg Riverfront” sign on Dolphin Green is up!

New signage has gone up for “The Romesburg Riverfront” in honor of former JU President Kerry Romesburg.

The Board of Trustees presented Romesburg and his wife, Judy, with a resolution Jan. 31 honoring his nine years at the university’s helm and naming the westernmost area of campus “The Romesburg Riverfront.”

After a 40-year career in higher education, Romesburg’s last day on the job was Feb. 1, and he was succeeded by current President Tim Cost.

The resolution honoring Romesburg read in part: “Because of Jacksonville University’s emphasis on highlighting the campus’s natural beauty under (Romesburg’s) leadership, the university is much more attractive to potential students.”
