‘Mayor’ Bobbin promoted to JU’s executive director of campus services

Michael J. Bobbin, Jacksonville University's executive director of campus services

Michael J. Bobbin, a fixture on the Jacksonville University campus for more than 40 years, has been promoted to the newly established position of executive director of campus services.

In addition to continuing his duties as purchasing director, Bobbin will now be JU’s facilities liaison with Sodexo and supervise campus facilities planning. George Scaduto, Jacksonville University’s vice president for finance and administration, announced Bobbin’s promotion this week.

Affectionately known on campus as “The Mayor,” Bobbin began his Jacksonville University career as a clerk in 1972, the same year he graduated from JU.

“I’ve been on campus for more than half my life and I cannot imagine a better place to have spent those years,” Bobbin said.

Bobbin has directed purchasing since 1986. He also managed the Rathskeller bar on campus and has directed food service operations and the student center.

He quipped, “To put a perspective on the years I’ve been on campus, I was talking to a young lady on campus and happened to mention in the conversation that I’m a JU alum, class of ’72. There was a brief moment of silence and she responded, ‘1972, that’s the year my mother was born.’”
