“This is a great time to get into health informatics. New opportunities are emerging that will allow healthcare organizations to automate clinical processes and provide care services more efficiently and effectively. The ultimate goal is for all healthcare organizations to use those outcomes in more useful ways toward establishing a safer, cheaper, faster, fully automated, and securely integrated healthcare system, said officials with the Health Informatics Program in JU’s Brooks Rehabilitation College of Healthcare Sciences.

The Master of Science in Health Informatics degree, which JU began offering this fall, can qualify graduates for positions such as researchers, healthcare IT product managers, clinical informatics specialists, nursing informatics specialists or directors of clinical applications in a range of settings including hospitals, government agencies, insurance or laboratories.

Through this interdisciplinary degree, graduates will gain knowledge in clinical, healthcare and information technology to improve patients’ well-being.

According to labor analytics firm Burning Glass in 2014, employers are having difficulty finding qualified applicants to fill health informatics positions.

Jacksonville University, consistently ranked among America’s best colleges by U.S. News & World Report, has a prominent reputation in online healthcare education with more than 3,200 graduates.

Applications and registrations are now being accepted. For information about JU’s online MS in Health Informatics, call toll free 855-364-4939 or visit http://www.jacksonvilleu.com/. For information about the degree oveall, visit http://www.ju.edu/chs/AHS/healthinformatics.
