JU’s White discusses potential shipwreck causes on First Coast News

JU Marine Science Research Institute Executive Director Quinton White

Jacksonville University’s Quinton White, the Marine Science Research Institute executive director, said in a First Coast News (WTLV NBC-12 and WJXX ABC-25) report that weather may have contributed to a mysterious boating incident in which a 49-year-old man with a Venezuelan passport died.

The body of Guillermo Gonzalez Losada was found Feb. 24 about 22 miles east of Jacksonville.

“When you have multiple storm events near like we’ve been having, that they come together and cause huge waves that can bust a boat up,” White said in the First Coast News report.
