JU Study Abroad video with Geography Professor Ray Oldakowski offers tantalizing glimpse of San Juan Spring Break ’13 trip

If you’re not into rainforests, caves, Caribbean beaches, Danza and Salsa music, Puerto Rican culture and broadening your horizons, you will be after viewing a new Jacksonville University Study Abroad video. It offers a tantalizing glimpse of the upcoming Spring Break trip to the colonial city of San Juan in mid-March 2013.

JU Geography Professor Ray Oldakowski discusses the trip he’ll lead in a 3 1/2-minute film that provides details of the sojourn, which offers students credit via Geo 300/IS 362, a Geography/International Studies of Latin America course.

“It’s always neat to go out into the field and be able to see some of the places and people and history and concepts that we’ve been learning about in the classroom,” Oldakowski says in the video.

In addition to experiencing urban life, rural areas, beaches, waterfalls and more, students will get to engage in Service Learning as they work with non-profits in the San Juan area, he added.

“There’s no better opportunity to study a new place, to see a new place, to experience a new place, than to do it on a Spring Break program. You get to go with your friends, you get a tremendous bargain … and it’s not too long that you’ll get homesick.”
