JU alum Ken Underwood launches record label

Jacksonville University alumi Ken Underwood (right), founder and CEO of Stereofame, with artist J. Dash
Jacksonville University alumnus Ken Underwood’s launching of a record label is featured in a Nov. 30 Jacksonville Business Journal article.

“Rapper J. Dash’s first release, ‘WOP,’ was released through Underwood’s startup record label, Stereofame Records Inc., in January 2011, and hit gold status in May, selling 500,000 copies, attracting attention largely through YouTube and other social media channels,” the JBJ article says. “Underwood founded the record label in 2008 specifically for J. Dash even though he had no background in the music industry.”

Underwood, of Ponte Vedra Beach, is a 1981 JU graduate in marketing, management and economics. A retired U.S. Naval Reserves pilot, Underwood also owns several other businesses, including Strategic Interactive Holdings Corp.
